Million Oyster Nursery Project

Team Miami and the Oyster Institute are proud to announce a new partnership that connects world-class sport with world-class science. Together, we are launching the M1 Oyster Festival, a celebration of food, innovation, and sustainability timed to coincide with the E1 electric powerboat race in Miami.

The Oyster Institute leads the Million Oyster Program, an ambitious effort to establish a one million oysters into South Florida’s canals and coastal waters. Each oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water daily, improving water quality, restoring marine habitat, and building resilience against erosion and pollution. By involving chefs, restaurants, and the local community, the program demonstrates how small actions add up to large-scale environmental change.

This year’s festival will feature a select group of Miami and South Florida restaurants showcasing creative oyster dishes and menus, with proceeds supporting ‘Million Oyster Nursery’ oyster restoration programs in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Guests and fans of the E1 race will have the opportunity to enjoy world-class dining while contributing directly to healthier waterways.

The 2025 event will serve as the foundation for a much larger 2026 program, establishing Miami as a global stage where sport, cuisine, and sustainability come together to inspire action and deliver real impact.
